The guided Segway tours offer guests an opportunity to off road on the electric stand-up devices.

Tour guide Marc Dodd has been taking guests for years along the trails and believes nearly everyone can ride a Segway.

“Often times folks will look at this experience and think, ‘No way I can do that.’ And then they realize this is not as hard as it looks,” said Dodd.

Dodd begins his tours with instructions on how to operate a Segway.

“Our Segways are unique because they have these giant off-road tires to them, which make it easy to roll over tree roots and sugar sand. We can absorb the shock of any of the bumps said Dodd.”

The guided Segway tour typically covers three miles of trails that often includes open fields, trails, wooded areas and some park roadways.

“I bill my tour as a hybrid as National Geographic meets the jungle cruise. I tell lots of corny dad jokes along the way, I’m a father of five. So, they have given me a lots of material to use here out on the tour,” said Dodd.

The tours are part educational by learning about the area and wildlife that lives in the area.

But most of the time the tour is about cruising effortlessly on the Segways around the state park.

“The learning curve is also very short. So, folks stick with it for just a few minutes, they will be able to zig and zag all over the place,” he said.
