CLERMONT, Fla. — President Donald Trump and family move back into the White House located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington next week.
But did you know there is another White House located right here in Central Florida?
Lake County’s Presidents Hall of Fame has been a landmark roadside attraction along U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont since the 1960s.
Inside is a unique collection of White House facts, artifacts, photos, statues and miniature scaled models of the famous house.
For 13 years, Tommy Candido has been the curator of the facility.
“You see more of the White House in Clermont than you would in Washington,” Candido said.
The tour guide said there are some fun activities for the entire family.
“There is a number of photo ops (opportunities). You can stand behind the podium and make a speech. You can also sit next to Thomas Jefferson and sign the Declaration of Independence,” Candido said. “You can also sit behind the Resolute desk (also known as Hayes or Oval Office desk).”
Guests can leisurely walk through the place, which features the executive mansion’s humble beginnings in miniature scale.
There’s also a full-blown modern-day White House replica, scaled inside and out, that once traveled the country.
“Everything was handmade in the replica. All of the paintings are hand-painted paintings. Just in miniature,” Candido said. “But there were over 500,000 hours put into this project.”
Visitors seem to like the attraction's quirkiness, including videos of past presidents and the animals of the White House.
Ken Bosshart, visiting from Haines City, said it is good fun.
“It’s just kind of interesting facts about the people that ran the country,” Bosshart said.
The cost to visit the Presidents Hall of Fame is $15.50 for adults, $8.50 for children 6-12, and children 5 and younger are free.
The museum is open every day.
