DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The green flag to start the Daytona 500 will drop an hour earlier than originally planned, at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, NASCAR announced Friday.
Weather forecasts call for potentially "inclement" conditions later Sunday, NASCAR said.
Parking lots now will open at 6 a.m. ET. Gates to Daytona International Speedway and hospitality areas will be unlocked at 9 a.m. ET, and the Hard Rock Bet Fanzone will open at 8:30 a.m.
Speedway officials said fans should arrive early because of increased security measures for the race and warned that traffic can be unpredictable so they should allow extra time because of potential delays.
Pitbull still will make his pre-race performance, and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will fly over the track at the end of the national anthem, NASCAR said.
