The Bethune-Cookman University Wildcats and the Florida A&M University Rattlers play their 2024 game Saturday, with kick off at 3:30 p.m.

The first ever Florida Classic was played in 1978, in Tampa, but the teams have played each other most seasons since their 1925 matchup in Tallahassee.

Nobody is more excited about the big game than the Adams family who drove their 35-foot FR3 recreational vehicle from Jacksonville to Orlando.

“We support Bethune Cookman University as well as Florida A&M University. It’s a family affair,” said Gary Adams.

His family has been driving to central Florida every year for the football game for as long as he has owned the RV.

“I started with the RV 15 years ago. It’s been a no-stopper,” said Adams.

Gary, his son Chris, and wife Jacquline packed enough stuff to last them for over five days.

The family arrived at Camping World Stadium on Wednesday, before the RV section opened and was the first vehicle in the lot on Thursday.

Aside from the RV, the family has a separate trailer they unloaded on Friday filled with tents, carpets, chairs and awnings to fill up their campsite located near the stadium.

Son Chris has been coming to the event for as long as he can remember and admits the rivalry is big with family and people you meet around the stadium.

“You know the game itself; you have bragging rights for the years. Two of the best Florida colligate teams going toe to toe at the end of the year,” said Chris Adams.

Jacquline is usually busy inside the RV preparing food, including a conch salad recipe she learned in college.

“I learned it when I went to Bethune Cookman University. I learned it from the bohemian students there,” Jacquline said.

The Adams family plans to return to north Florida on Sunday with bragging rights.

Battle of the high school bands takes place Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Camping World Stadium.

Four hours prior to kickoff, fans can check out interactive games, face painters, inflatables, and more at Tinker Field.
