Lorincz was accused of fatally shooting Owens through her front door on June 2, 2023, following an argument between the neighbors over Owens’ children.
Lorincz claimed she fired in self-defense. However, prosecutors argued there was no evidence to prove that Lorincz’s life was in danger.
“While no sentence can ever restore the life taken from us, the court’s decision will send a strong message about the value of Ajike’s life and the importance of justice for victims of senseless violence,” Owens’ family said in a statement.
Lorincz could face up to 30 years in prison.
