The city of Lake Mary hosted a celebration for the Lake Mary All-Stars, who recently won the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

The celebration brought thousands of people to the area.

The parade started at 10 a.m. at Lake Mary Avenue and headed south down Country Club Road.

It ended with a block party on Fourth Street with ice cream trucks and other activities to celebrate the big day.

Coaches for the team said the boys showed resilience and stood up to adversity.

“Better human beings than baseball players," said assistant coach Paul Bibaud. "That’s their nature right there is what you’ve seen on TV."

Assistant coach Joey Jensen credited parents of the players.

“They are a product of their awesome parents, and we just kind of feed that parenting into how it relates to baseball," Jensen said. "I think these kids and families around them, that the journey was far more fun than the end result."

It was Florida's first win in the Little League World Series final after appearing eight previous times.

Sunrail offered free rides from the Sanford, Longwood and Altamonte Springs Sunrail locations.
