1. Red Hot and Boom to showcase nearly 15,000 fireworks at Cranes Roost Park
The firework show begins tonight at 9:30 p.m.

3. Category 4 Hurricane Beryl passes near Jamaica
Beryl should remain a hurricane as it approaches the Yucatan Peninsula and Belize late on Thursday.

4. Wall Street hits records as a slowing economy boosts hopes for lower rates
The hope on Wall Street is that the economy will soften by just the right amount.

• Average rate on a 30-year mortgage climbs for the first time since late May to just under 7%

5. Work begins on another roundabout in DeLand
FDOT found the roundabout could reduce evening backups by a minute and a half compared to keeping the intersection in its current configuration.

6. Valencia College obtains $1.5 million grant to help students who dropped out of high school
Interested students can apply starting in September by attending an orientation session.

• Ocala to host inaugural drone show: The city is forgoing traditional fireworks to protect the environment and to bring an innovative approach to festivities.

• 47th Annual Fireworks at the Fountain: Live entertainment, family fun and food and beverages available for purchase from vendors will fill Lake Eola Park.

• Star Spangle Sanford 4th of July on the Riverwalk: Live entertainment will perform along Seminole Boulevard starting at about 6:30 p.m. as crowds enjoy the food and drink stations, crafts, merchandise booths and other vendors.
