ORLANDO, Fla. — Grocery chains across Florida are closing ahead of Hurricane Milton's arrival Wednesday.

Publix Supermarkets announced modified working hours for 498 of the company's 1,380 stores in the state. Some stores in the Tampa Bay area didn't open on Tuesday, while others in Central Florida stayed open until 6:00 p.m. The company appeared to target Thursday for reopening, depending on storm damage.

Walmart also announced store closures across much Florida.
