Debris left piled by the sides of roads in Central Florida continues to show the impacts from Hurricane Milton.

Many counties are beginning to pickup vegetative debris from homes, and have also opened debris drop-off sites for residents who would like to remove the debris on their own.

Here’s a county-by-county list of where you can go or when you can expect your yard waste to be picked up:

Orange County

Orange County is extending access to residential drop-off sites for debris from Hurricane Milton for an additional week. The sites will remain open through Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.

  • Conway Water Treatment Plant
    • 3590 Manatee Street, Orlando, FL 32822
  • Harrell Road
    • 8503 Trevarthon Road, Orlando, FL 32817
  • Zellwood Maintenance Unit
    • 3500 Golden Gem Road, Apopka, FL 32712

The sites only accept loose vegetative debris — no bags, containers or large household items and appliances. The site is only for residential use. Contractors, lawn care, or commercial companies are prohibited from using the drop-off sites.

Residents must present a valid driver’s license, utility bill, or other document verifying Orange County residency. Residents can use the county’s interactive map to find their nearest drop-off site.

Orange County is also continuing its storm curbside debris removal for unincorporated Orange County.

Contractors are collecting piles at the curb that are too large to be picked up through the county’s residential curbside collection program.

Residents are encouraged to separate debris by type—vegetative, large household appliances, and other household items, etc. — and place it at the curb for collection as soon as possible.

Flagler County

Unincorporated areas of Flagler County may start to see Hurricane Milton vegetative debris pickup as early as Monday, Oct. 21. Work is scheduled to begin in the publicly maintained right of ways along the John Anderson and Old Kings Road corridors.

Crews plan to pick up vegetative materials in the eastern areas of the county — coastal and inland — and work westward. Which will give residents in areas that flooded more time to bring their debris curbside.

The county said pickup may take weeks, and the schedule will be dynamic and likely change dependent on the contractor progress area by area.

Municipal residents are asked to check with your city or town for more details.

Important Reminders:

  • Separate debris – keep regular household garbage apart from storm debris
  • Storm debris should also be separated:
    • Vegetation
    • Construction and demolition materials
    • Appliances
    • Electronics
  • Place debris without blocking driveways, roadways, mailboxes, or utility poles
  • Avoid obstructing ditches to prevent flooding.
