Florida State and LSU will end their season in the same place they will begin their 2023 season as the two powerhouse programs will cap off fantastic seasons in Orlando for two of Orlando's three bowl games.
The Seminoles will take on former UCF quarterback Dillon Gabriel and the Oklahoma Sooners on Dec. 29 in the Cheez-It Bowl at Camping World Stadium. The Tigers will face Big Ten West champion Purdue in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on Jan. 2.
The 'Noles and Tigers will face off again to open next season in September in a kickoff classic game at Camping World Stadium.
The Cheez-It Bowl will mark the first matchup between Florida State and Oklahoma since the 2000 BCS National Championship game, a game won by Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in Miami. FSU is coming off a strong season where they went 9-3 and finished No. 13 in the final College Football Playoff Rankings. The Sooners were a disappointing 6-6.
The Tigers also impressed this season, especially after their one-point loss to Florida State to open the season in New Orleans. LSU finished 9-4 and No. 17 in the final rankings. Both the Tigers and Boilermakers lost in their conference's championship game Saturday.
For LSU, it is the program's sixth appearance in the Citrus Bowl, tying five other schools for the most appearances in this bowl game.
Orlando's final bowl game is the Duluth Trading Cure Bowl and will feature two group of five powers in No. 24 Troy and No. 25 UTSA. The game will take place Dec. 16 at Exploria Stadium.
UCF will head to the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Md., to take on Duke on Dec. 28. Florida will face No. 14 Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Dec. 17.
