FLORIDA — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will host a virtual public meeting on March 13 to get public feedback on regulated bear hunting.

FWC wants to hear from Floridians regarding potential options for black bear management.

At the agency’s December 2024 meeting, staff with FWC’s bear management program provided commissioners with a 5-year update on implementing the 2019 Florida Black Bear Management Plan.

At that meeting, commissioners asked staff to propose options for a potential bear hunt and present them at a later date.

People can join the March meeting virtually by going to myfwc.com/hunt and click on “Florida Black Bear.” The public can also email their comments to BearComments@MyFWC.com.

The meeting on the 13th starts at 6 p.m.
