DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Dozens of volunteers spent Saturday morning painting offices and assembling furniture at CareerSource of Brevard, Flagler, and Volusia Counties.

It's all part of Spectrum Community Center Assist.

“We’re really proud at Spectrum to have our employee volunteers come and join us,” said Rahman Kahn, GVP of Community Impact for Spectrum. “I mean, they come on a Saturday morning. They’re giving up their time, their resources, and their skills to really come and experience the opportunity to help the local community.”

The five-year, $30 million philanthropic initiative by Spectrum is meant to revitalize local community centers and invest in job training programs in underserved communities.

Spectrum also presented CareerSource a check for $32,000.

CareerSource leaders say that money will go toward improving CareerSource’s Daytona Beach Career Center.

“The public-private partnership we have with Spectrum is really special,” said Marci Murphy, the executive director of CareerSource Brevard Flagler Volusia. “We’re able to take our resources and combine them with their money that they give us and leverage that and help our community here in Volusia County.”
