ORLANDO, Fla. — As temperatures remain below-average this week across Central Florida, cold weather shelters remain open due to the frigid conditions.
Here's where you can go:
ORANGE COUNTY
Matthew’s Hope is opening the Orange County homeless location at 611 Business Park Blvd. Winter Garden. (407) 905-9500.
Orange County Government will support the Homeless Services Network (HSN) in welcoming residents and people without stable housing to two area warming centers on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. They are the Goldenrod Recreation Center/Goldenrod Park at 4863 N. Goldenrod Road in Winter Park and the Barnett Park Recreation Center Gym at 4801 W. Colonial Drive in Orlando. They open at 5 p.m. and close at 9 a.m. the next day.
Temporary locations in Orlando will complement efforts to meet the needs of the homeless population at the Coalition for the Homeless at 18 N. Terry Ave., The Salvation Army Orlando (men only) at 624 Lexington Ave., and at Orlando Union Rescue Mission at 3300 West Colonial Dr. Regional LYNX buses will provide free rides for individuals seeking transportation to these three HSN shelters. Riders must let the LYNX driver know that they need shelter. The LYNX driver will transport those in need to the nearest HSN shelter location.
VOLUSIA COUNTY
The Bridge at the Neighborhood Center in DeLand will open at 6:30 p.m. and close at 8 a.m. the following morning. Call 386-734-8120 for more information.
Halifax Urban Ministries is working with local churches on the county's east side to offer cold-weather shelter services. Those needing shelter or transportation to a shelter are encouraged to contact HUM at 386-317-5886 as soon as possible.
OSCEOLA COUNTY
First United Methodist Church at 100 Ohio Ave., in St. Cloud (1000 Ohio Avenue, St. Cloud) and Iglesia Del Nazareno Casa De Vida at 2367 Fortune Road in Kissimmee will open their doors at 6 p.m. to offer overnight shelter Thursday and Friday.
People who need transportation to the shelter location can travel at no cost using LYNX buses by alerting drivers that they will be going to the cold weather shelter. Pets are housed at Osceola Animal Services during the operation. Guests with pets must call Animal Services at 407-742-8000 and press option 4 to request pet transport by an Animal Services Officer to the animal shelter. If guests plan on staying both nights, they should keeping their pet at the animal shelter until Saturday morning. For those without a pet carrier, they must make pickup arrangements prior to boarding the bus because carriers are required unless it’s a service animal.
BREVARD COUNTY

FLAGLER COUNTY
The Sheltering Tree organization will open its shelter at 205 North Pine Street in Bunnell.
The county will also provide bus transportation along two routes:
East side of the county
- Dollar General at Publix Town Center on Market Avenue (leads to Dollar General), 3:30 p.m.
- McDonald’s at Old Kings Road South and State Road 100 at the dirt road on the east side, 4 p.m.
- Dollar Tree behind Carrabba’s in the Dollar Tree Parking lot, 4:30 p.m.
- Palm Coast Main Branch Library, northwest corner of Palm Coast Parkway and Belle Terre Parkway, 4:45 p.m.
West side of the county
- Dollar General at County Road 305 and Canal Avenue in Daytona North, 4 p.m.
- Bunnell Free Clinic, 703 Moody Boulevard, 4:30 p.m.
- Bridges United Methodist Church in Bunnell, 205 N. Pine Street, 4:30 p.m. (listed as the same pick-up time because of the close proximity)

MARION COUNTY
The Emergency Management Division of the Marion County Sheriff's Office will be working with the Salvation Army and other partners to ensure the safety and well-being of those who need cold weather sheltering in the county. The Salvation Army will have accommodations in place for those requiring shelter from the cold at The Salvation Army — Center of Hope, 320 NW 1st Ave., in Ocala. Check-in time is 6 p.m.
