VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Volusia County plans to host a series of community town hall meetings aimed at providing residents with information and resources on preparing for hurricane season.

The meetings will cover a wide range of topics for hurricane readiness, including understanding a hurricane’s nature and impact, assembling emergency kits and supplies, knowing evacuation routes and zones, and preparing homes and properties for the potential impact.

County leaders will also provide safety tips during the storm and discuss the importance of communication plans.

“In the face of a hurricane, knowledge is as critical as supplies in your emergency kit,” said Emergency Management Director Clint Mecham. “We’ve designed these meetings to arm you with that knowledge, addressing everything from evacuation routes to how to effectively communicate with family members during a storm.”
