PALM COAST, FL. — Florida is known for its miles of beautiful coastline that people come to enjoy every day, but Jennifer Miko of Flagler County is encouraging people to visit for a different reason — horseback riding along the sand.

What You Need To Know

  • The company does both trail riding and beach riding for customers
  • Must be 10 years or older to ride and no riding experience necessary
  • Owner diagnosed with cancer five years ago says she is cancer free

“Like every day, it never gets old for me,” says Miko.

Miko is the owner of Equestrian Adventures located in Flagler County.

She has been riding horses for 20 years and loves to share her passion for the animals with everyone.

“These are my babies, and they mean the world to me. And it means the world to me to be able to share this experience with people and make others happy,” said Miko.

The company does a variety of rides, including riding through a state park, trail riding and beach riding.

Guests make reservations over the phone or online and then meet Miko and her team along the Palm Coast for the experience of a lifetime.

“I love making memories for other people,” she said.

The 45-minute beach tour includes having the horses walk along the beach and into the surf.

She believes it’s that combination of sunshine and surf that makes this ride special.

“The breeze coming off the ocean. The waves underneath the horse. Just how peaceful and serene it is,” said Miko. “Just to be able to share this with people makes my heart happy.”

Miko’s biggest challenge in life has not been managing the horses but dealing with a cancer scare.

“At the end of 2018, they diagnosed me with breast cancer right after my 50th birthday,” Miko said. “I have a lot of volunteers and a lot of help and a lot of support. I am going on my fifth year of being cancer free.”

Miko keeps the horses at her 53-acre property located in Flagler County where the 20 or so animals roam freely.

She invites everyone to come and enjoy horseback riding on the beach.
