VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A 26-year-old woman was arrested Saturday and charged with recklessly driving down a New Smyrna Beach and plowing into the water.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses told deputies that Sarah Ramsammy of Orlando drove down the beach at 50 mph on Smyrna Dunes Park beach in close proximity to several families and their dogs (it's a dog-friendly park), almost hitting a child.
Her vehicle ended up in the water. There were no injuries.
When questioned by deputies, Ramsammy said: “We were just trying to turn around, we were trying to make a U-turn and we didn't think we could do it here, so we kept going."
She was taken into custody and charged with DUI and reckless driving. She was also cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
