One flight was canceled and several others were delayed at Orlando Sanford International Airport Thursday night after smoke caused the terminal to be evacuated.

Passengers told Spectrum News 13's Greg Angel that passengers in the terminal could see and smell smoke near the gates. Early reports indicated that sparks could also be seen from a vent.

Passenger Danielle Martin told Spectrum news that there was not a fire alarm, but a voice did come over the intercom asking people to evacuate the terminal. 

Multiple fire departments responded to the scene.

Passengers were given the all clear to return to the building around 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening, and a spokesperson with Allegiant air reported that the incident resulted in five to six flights being delayed, and one flight was canceled, according to the report. 

An update from Allegiant Air Relations Agent Sonya Padgett confirmed that smoke was seen at the terminal, and indicated that all passengers that were evacuated had to be re-screened, which caused the additional flights to be delayed.
