ORLANDO, Fla. -- Maria Baez, 55, and her grandson Christian Diaz, 8, fled Puerto Rico on November 3, 2017 after Hurricane Maria.

Baez said she did it to get her grandson, who has epilepsy, cerebral palsey and developmental delays, the care he needs.
Christian was a victim of shaken baby syndrome that resulted in his disabilities. He was expected to never talk or walk, but Baez refused to let that happen.
The family received Medicaid that covered his expenses for occupational, physical and speech therapy at Angels On Earth PPEC. After more than a few months of treatment, Christian finally began to walk on his eight birthday, September 14, 2018.
