BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Brevard police officers are gearing up for an annual skills contest taking place on two wheels.
- 2019 Police Motorcycle Challenge to be held September 5-7
- Fifth annual event put on by Space Coast Motor Officers
- Event benefits Brevard Law Ride charity
The 2019 Police Motorcycle Challenge will involve dozens of motorcycle cops from the Brevard County area, around the state and from as far away as New York.
On Wednesday, local officers from the Brevard Sheriff's Office, Melbourne, Palm Bay, West Melbourne and Vero Beach PD got in some practice on the course.
The fifth annual event is put on by the Space Coast Motor Officers and take place September 5 through 7 at Space Coast Harley Davidson.
The event is free and has a spectator area. There will also be multiple food and drink vendors.
"It gets more challenging to try and make the event bigger and bigger each year by the participation level, motor officers, raffle prizes and, of course, increasing the money we raise for our charity," said President of the Space Coast Motor Officers Scott Behringer
This year's charity is the Brevard Law Ride, an organization aimed at raising money for law enforcement charities.
