“The Little Mermaid - A Musical Adventure,” will debut fall 2024 in the “newly refreshed” Animation Courtyard theater,” Disney announced Tuesday.

The new show, which will include music inspired by the animated film such as “Part of Your World” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” will feature new set pieces, “cutting-edge” effects and “a bold new design,” according to a post on the Disney Parks Blog.

Disney says this new production is part of its continued investment in the parks experience.

The new show replaces “Voyage of the Little Mermaid,” which opened in 1992—back when the park was known as Disney-MGM Studios. It closed in early 2020 during the pandemic but never reopened.

On Tuesday, Disney also shared concept art of the new show's "Kiss the Girl" scene, which wasn't part of the original "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" show.

Disney says construction inside the theater is “well underway” and more details about the new show will be shared in the coming months.

With the theater closed, the only “Little Mermaid” offering at the park is the Ariel meet-and-greet Disney added to Walt Disney Presents this summer for its live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” starring Halle Bailey.

“The Little Mermaid” show isn’t the only offering at Disney World getting an update. At its Destination D23 event in September, Disney announced plans to revamp its Test Track attraction at EPCOT, reimagine DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and refresh Country Bear Jamboree at Magic Kingdom.
