The Disney Treasure, Disney’s upcoming cruise ship, has reached another major construction milestone, the company announced Thursday.

What You Need To Know

In a blog post, the cruise line said that the last block of the ship has been completed.

“With the last block in place, the ship is now considered structurally complete,” according to the post.

The ship, which is being built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, is being assembled in sections or blocks — which is typical of cruise ship construction. This final block is the part of the ship that will eventually include the adults-only Quiet Cove area and the Hero Zone sports arena, Disney said.

Within the last month, the forward and aft funnels also were installed at the top of the ship. One of the funnels will feature a two-story EPCOT-themed suite.

The new ship will feature new offerings onboard, including a Broadway-style show inspired by “Moana,” a “Coco”-inspired dining experience, a “Zootopia”-inspired ice cream parlor and bars inspired by Jungle Cruise and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

The Disney Treasure is the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. From its home port in Port Canaveral, the ship will embark on its maiden voyage in December 2024 and offer seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.

It also will be the first Disney cruise ship to make stops at Lighthouse Point, Disney’s newest private island destination.
