News of the closure last month left many wondering what will become of the hotel with themed cabins (guest rooms), dining, characters and spaces for lightsaber training.

Well, the answer is “something,” according to Disney Parks, Experience and Products chairman Josh D’Amaro, but the company isn’t saying what. At least not yet.

D’Amaro made the comments in a recent interview with The Points Guy.

“No hints yet…but something will happen,” D’Amaro said when asked about Starcruiser’s future once it completes its final voyage.

Starcruiser debuted in March 2022, promising guests an interactive experience unlike any other—one that would let them play out their own Star Wars adventure in real time using elements of role-playing and live theater.

In addition to being immersed in a Star Wars setting, guests would be able to interact with characters, play sabacc, and visit the planet of Batuu during an excursion to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Last month, Disney announced it was pulling the plug on the premium experience despite high guest satisfaction ratings. The decision was due to Starcruiser performing below Disney’s expectations, D’Amaro said in an Q&A later that month.

In the Points Guy interview, D’Amaro acknowledged that the experiment didn’t work but also praised the creativity behind it.

“I know not everything’s going to work,” D’Amaro said. “What did work, though, is we took creative and storytelling to a completely new level, to a level that had never existed before. It didn’t work commercially. And so, when we realized that, you just make a call and move on.”

Starcruiser will make its final voyage Sept. 28-30.
