LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Disney World is making more changes at its parks — including lifting park reservations for date-based tickets and bringing back dining plans — in an ongoing effort to “improve the guest experience,” the resort announced Monday.
The resort will remove the theme park reservation requirement for date-based tickets next year. Visitors who buy date-based tickets for visits on or after Jan. 9 will no longer have to make a park reservation. The change will only apply to date-based tickets.
Disney World will also introduce "good-to-go days" for annual passholders and cast membrs. On those select days, park reservations will not be required for visits to select parks. Blockout dates will still apply. These days will be in addition to a recent change Disney introduced that allows passholders to visit the parks after 2 p.m. without a reservation, except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom.
Another change set for next year is the return of Disney’s popular dining plans, which have not been offered since before the pandemic shutdown of 2020. The pre-paid meal plan will be available for bookings starting May 31 for stays on Jan. 9 and after. Visitors can choose between the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and the Disney Disney Plan, both of which are offered as an add-on for those who purchase a Disney World vacation package.
Disney also said it will extend its early park entry offering for Disney hotel guests through 2024. The benefit allows hotel guest to enter the parks 30 minutes before they open to the public. Disney is also extending the extended evening hours offfered to Deluxe Resort hotel guests on select nights through next year.
DIsney also shared plans to make adjustments that would "simplify" its Genie+ service. In a post on its official Disney Parks Blog, the resort said it was looking into ways that would allow visitors to use the service and make individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their theme park visit.
“Our goal is to give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family,” Disney said in blog post.
No details were shared about the upcoming changes to Genie+, which launched in October 2021 as the paid skip-the-line service to replace Disney’s FastPass+ service.
Disney said the upcoming changes it’s making is an example of its ongoing effort to listen to visitor feedback.
