The new roller coaster, opening at Magic Kingdom on April 4, will use a virtual queue instead of a standby line.
Disney has used the system before for other new attractions — most recently Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT — and the process will be the same.
The virtual queue, which can be accessed through the My Disney Experience app, will open at 7 a.m. each day, with visitors getting another opportunity at 1 p.m.
Visitors will need a park reservation for Magic Kingdom to join the queue. They don’t need to be in the park when trying to secure a spot at 7 a.m., but they will need to be at Magic Kingdom for the 1 p.m. release, according to Disney.
After joining the virtual queue, visitors will be notified in the app when it's time for them to return to the ride.
On select dates, Disney will offer a third opportunity to join the virtual queue at 6 p.m. That option will only be available to guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels.
Visitors will also be able to purchase Lightning Lane access to TRON through Disney Genie. Disney has not yet released pricing information for that option.
TRON, which was first announced in 2017, is inspired by the TRON films. Visitors will enter “the Grid” as Team Blue and race against Team Orange. A similar ride opened at Shanghai Disneyland in 2016.
