KISSIMMEE, Fla. — After a two-year absence, ICE!, the holiday-themed attraction featuring ice sculptures, will return to Gaylord Palms Resort this November for its Christmas celebration — and it will bring the Grinch along for the fun.
What You Need To Know
- ICE! returns to Gaylord Palms this year, Nov. 18 through Jan. 1
- The holiday attraction will feature a theme inspired by "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
- Artisans from China will create ice sculptures of The Grinch, his dog Max and other characters from the holiday tale
This year, the 20,000 square foot “frozen” attraction will be inspired by Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and include scenes and sculptures from the classic holiday tale.
Visitors will encounter ice versions of The Grinch, his dog Max and Cindy-Lou Who across more than 10 scenes that depict various moments from the story, including The Grinch’s mountaintop cave and Who-ville. To create color throughout the exhibit, a mixture of special food coloring for the ice will be used along with LED lights.
Using more than 6,700 ice blocks, 40 artisans visiting from China will create the ice sculptures in the exhibit. It will take the team about six weeks to create the displays.
To keep the ice sculptures from melting, the attraction will be kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit, making it one of the coldest spots in Florida.
“We can’t wait for our guests to once again experience the magic and wonder of ICE! During this year’s Christmas at Gaylord Palms celebration,” Gaylord Palms general manager Johann Krieger said in a statement. “Since debuting here in 2003, ICE! has always been a one-of-a-kind attraction for our guests, and we’re excited to welcome this Gaylord Hotels tradition back this year with ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas!’ and all the beloved characters in the classic Dr. Seuss story.”
ICE! will be available at Gaylord Palms from Nov. 18 through Jan. 1. Prices for the experience vary depending on date and range from $29.99 to $39.99 for adults and $19.99 to $26.99 for children ages 4-11.
ICE! is just one part of the holiday lineup planned for Gaylord Palms. In addition to festive decor, the resort will also offer live shows, hands-on activities, a light show in the atrium, and ice tubing and snowball throwing at the Snow Factory.
