ORLANDO, Fla. — As 2021 winds down, it’s time to take a look at what’s coming in the new year.
With several new attractions on the slate, 2022 is expected to be a big year for Florida theme parks.
Visitors can expect new roller coaster, interactive experiences and even a new theme park.
Here’s a list of the new attractions set to open in 2022.
Peppa Pig Theme Park
Peppa Pig, the popular animated character, will get her very own full-fledged theme park. The family-friendly park, located next to Legoland Florida, will feature rides and attractions designed with little kids in mind, including Daddy Pig’s Roller Coaster, Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride and Grandad Dog’s Pirate Boat Ride. Peppa Pig Theme Park is scheduled to open Feb. 24.
Ice Breaker - SeaWorld Orlando
It appears that SeaWorld will finally be ready to break the ice in 2022. The park’s Ice Breaker coaster was originally slated to open in 2020 but was pushed back because of the pandemic. After setting a 2021 timeline for the coaster, SeaWorld delayed the attraction again, moving it to 2022. When it opens in February, Ice Breaker will feature multiple launches—both forward and backward—as well as the “steepest beyond vertical drop in Florida.”
Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser - Disney World
Disney World’s latest hotel will be more than just a hotel. Touted as a two-night immersive adventure, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will let guests live out their own Star Wars story. While aboard the Halcyon starcruiser, guests will be able to participate in a number of themed activities such as lightsaber training or bridge training. Guests can even enjoy an off-ship excursion to Batuu (Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge). The experience is set to begin March 1.
Iron Gwazi - Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
A rebuild of the former Gwazi wooden coaster, Iron Gwazi is expected to open in March. The hybrid coaster will feature a 206-foot beyond vertical drop and reach speeds of up to 76 mph, making it the steepest and fastest coaster of its kind.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind - Epcot
]The next big attraction coming to Epcot will be themed to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will be a massive indoor roller coaster—one of the longest in the world—with rotating ride vehicles and a reverse launch. Taking over the former Universe of Energy pavilion, Cosmic Rewind will be the park’s first other-world showcase pavilion and feature a presentation from the Xandarians. Cosmic Rewind is expected to open sometime in the summer.
Pirate River Quest - Legoland Florida
This family-friendly boat ride will take visitors on journey through the waters of Cypress Gardens as the help search for lost treasure. Legoland hasn’t revealed an opening date yet.
