ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Magic unveiled their four-game preseason schedule Tuesday, and they will open on the road against the Pelicans in New Orleans on Oct. 10.
What You Need To Know
- The Magic on Tuesday announced their four-game schedule for the preseason
- Orlando will play a road game and a home game against New Orleans
- The schedule also includes games against Cleveland and Brazilian-team Flamengo
- Single-game tickets are on sale now
They also will play a home game against the Pelicans on Oct. 17.
The matchups are a good challenge because New Orleans also is a mostly young team built through the NBA Draft, including 2020 All-Star forward Brandon Ingram. The Pelicans gained a spot in the 2023 NBA Western Conference Play-in this season. They had been firmly entrenched in a playoff spot until Zion Williamson injured a hamstring in early January. Williamson was out for the season, and it's unclear whether he would come back in a preseason game.
A key difference between the teams is New Orleans has 10-year veteran C.J. McCollum at guard, acquiring him from the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2021-22 season, and 11-year veteran center Jonas Valanciunas, who was added via a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2021 offseason.
The Magic's other two preseason games are on Oct. 12 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a playoff team this year, and against Brazilian-team Flamengo for their preseason finale on Oct. 20.
Flamengo will make its third trip to Amway Center after visiting in 2014 and 2018. The teams also faced each other during the preseason in 2015, when Orlando traveled to Brazil as part of the NBA Global Games Rio.
