ORLANDO, Fla. — “Somebody’s always working. Are you working harder?” Michael Lockley yells inside his Orlando gym. “How hard you push now will prepare you for the season.”

Lockley is the owner and head trainer at Total Body Sports. He gets his motivational speaking talent from his days as a linebacker at Olympia High School, FAU and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lockley is offering a month of free training for high school athletes this summer as a way to give back.

  • Wilson had trained with Lockley and earned multiple scholarship offers

“I’m going to tell them everything I did to get there,” Lockley said.  “And what I thought I could have done to do it better so they can go even higher and be bigger, faster, stronger than I was.

“We wanted to give these boys something to do, give these boys a chance to get free education. This year had a little extra motivation with the passing of Aaron Wilson.”

Lockley used to train Ocoee’s Aaron Wilson, who passed away after a battle with brain cancer this April. Wilson’s hard work earned him scholarship offers to schools all over the country.

“No matter how the day was going, no matter what someone say to him, he always had a smile on his face,” Jaylan Hicks remembered.

Hicks is a rising junior at Ocoee High School and plans to play defensive back for the team this season.  Wilson was his cousin.

“[He] came in here (and) worked every day, worked hard," Hicks said. "(He was a) great athlete. I know I can fulfill the path he was on.”

Wilson found a way to train through chemotherapy and radiation.  Lockley is dedicating these workouts in his memory.

“I’ll tell the kids every year about how hard Aaron worked and where he got to and if they work just as much they can get to that as well,” Lockley said,

Lockley still has openings for high school students who want to train.  If interested, direct message him on instagram or call/text him directly at 407-394-8443.
