WINTER SPRINGS, Fla.----
At Winter Springs it's not how you start it's how you finish. After a slow start the girls volleyball team has won back to back district championships and is hoping to make a run at a state title. Head coach Jennifer Mallard says the team owes a lot of it's success to senior co-captains Natalie Faulkner and Lauren Vargo.
"These two captains have shown a lot of mental toughness and tenacity in order to get their teammates where they need to be," Mallard says.
Vargo reached the 1,000 career digs milestone this season. Faulkner did as well in assists. Numbers like that take teamwork and chemistry which these two have. They've been playing together since they were little kids.
"Always been really good friends," Faulkner says. "We met in pre school and started playing together when we were seven."
It isn't easy to say goodbye, but Faulkner and Vargo are proud of the legacy they'll leave behind.
"Honestly I'll be really proud of all of us because we really stepped it up," Faulkner says."
"I'll just remember the memories and be grateful that I got to be part of this program," Vargo says. "Just been a really good experience."
