LOS ANGELES —  A fight followed by a shooting prompted the California Highway Patrol to shut down all northbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles Saturday afternoon for a crime scene investigation.

The fight was reported to the CHP at 1:35 p.m. Saturday on the northbound side of the freeway at Mission Road, Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service.

The CHP got a call about a physical fight between two occupants of a white Honda SUV in the northbound lanes at Vignes Street, according to a department statement. A second caller reported gunshots at the same location.

Arriving officers determined an unrelated person from a separate vehicle had exited a vehicle and fired gunshots near the SUV fight, the CHP reported. No one was struck by the gunshots.

One of the SUV combatants was taken to a hospital by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries, Larsen said.

The CHP reopened the right lanes of the northbound freeway about 3:30 p.m. and reopened the remaining lanes about 4 p.m.
