One of the most successful anime series ever is coming to life in a way you've never seen.
MegaCon – one of the world's biggest comic, sci-fi, anime and gaming conventions - is taking place this weekend in Orlando. Corey Paul is one of your entertainers.
Back in 20008, Corey went to UCF for Jazz Studies. At that time, he was a big fan of the wildly popular Japanese animated space Western called Cowboy Bebop. “You don't get many shows with as amazing a soundtrack as this one,” he told us, as he was warming up his trombone during rehearsal.
Corey admits that his colleagues in school questioned his enthusiasm for paying homage to Cowboy Bebop. Some of them referred to it as “cartoon music.” Corey thought it was way more refined, complex and downright fascinating.
Just two months ago, Corey recruited other like-minded musicians and formed The Bebop Bounty Big Band. They take you through the story of the anime through its one-of-a-kind soundtrack. And now, for the first time ever, MegaCon is promoting his band.
You can watch the Bebop Bounty Big Band LIVE at the Geek Easy, which is a venue near Full Sail. Shows are this Sunday, May 22 at 7 and 10 p.m. But if you are at MegaCon, you can catch a sneak peek at the Convention Center at 10 a.m., also on Sunday.
