Joseph Konig is a national digital reporter for Spectrum News with a passion for telling stories both big and small.

Joseph began his career working as a reporter for several local news outlets in the Bronx and as a freelance writer for political outlets, including New York’s premiere political magazine, City & State NY, where he authored the annual Bronx Power 100 list. During this period, he also covered the opening of a massive military-run field hospital at a Manhattan convention center during the COVID-19 pandemic, exposed a local political party for funding an antisemitic ad, and helped scuttle a crooked deal by disgraced Albany politicians to open a drug treatment center in the Bronx run by Medicaid fraudsters. He joined Spectrum News NY1 in 2022, where he covered topics from housing and public safety to the rise of the progressive movement in the Bronx.

In his current role, Joseph reports on the day-to-day happenings in the U.S. political world, covering a wide range of topics including the White House, Congress, and the 2024 Republican presidential primaries. He’s also examined the stark rise in mass shootings and the increasingly influential far-right movement across the United States. Joseph’s reporting has won several local news honors from the New York Press Association and has been cited by major national outlets, including Politico, CBS News, MSNBC and Newsday.
