Jacob Dobbs had one of the best careers in Holy Cross Football history. He was a four-time captain, won five Patriot League championships and when he graduated, he was the league's all time leader in tackles. He was also a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and three-time First Team All-League.
Dobbs had one more year of eligibility left and followed his coach Bob Chesney and many of his other Holy Cross coaches to James Madison University for his final season of college football. Although injured for a good part of the season, he still had a big impact on the Dukes.
Dobbs took part in JMU's Pro Day last week and reflected on his day and the support he has received from former Crusaders teammates who are now in the NFL.
"Yeah I felt the Pro Day was amazing," said Dobbs, "very fortunate that all the training for the last couple months paid off and I put some pretty good numbers up. Obviously, I'm a perfectionist, I would have liked to have done everything perfectly, but I felt like I put a pretty good performance on the field. In terms of getting ready for the NFL, I just want to show that I'm a jack of all trades, I can do anything they ask me to, special teams, playing a little fullback and blocking, linebacker, moving well. I just want to do anything I can to get on a 53-man roster."
