INDIAN SHORES, Fla. — Seven Pinellas County deputies shot a woman after authorities said tried to drive off from a traffic stop, ramming into cruisers and hitting a deputy.
The deputies shot the suspect three times in the incident, which happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the 20000 block of Gulf Boulevard in Indian Shores.

The suspect, identified as 65-year-old Marina Defillipio, is in critical condition at an area hospital.
The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Taskforce is assuming the investigation, which means the St. Pete Police Department is taking the lead.
Police said the incident started with a traffic stop on Park Boulevard when the driver ran a red light.
The deputy reported the driver was speaking in another language and saying paranoid phrases. the driver took off and deputies tried to stop the car a number of times as she fled out towards the beaches.
A deputy finally used a pit maneuver to stop her on Gulf Boulevard in Indian Shores. It was at that moment that St. Pete Police Chief Anthony Holloway says she pulled out a gun and hit several vehicles while trying to escape once again.
Seven deputies fired shots at the suspect striking her three times.
“These deputies and officers did everything they could to de-escalate and get her out of the vehicle,” Holloway said. “She wouldn’t get out of her vehicle. She rammed the deputies’ vehicles and the police officers’ vehicles and then she went after them with her car.”
Police said the woman doesn’t have a criminal history, and she is facing aggravated and assault and battery charges among others.
The deputy suffered minor injuries. Holloway says it was during the portion of the incident when the suspect was ramming vehicles.
