KISSIMMEE, Fla. — As Christmas gets closer and closer, Promenade at Sunset Walk in Kissimmee is getting the community in the holiday spirit.

They hosted a holiday toy drive Dec. 8, with a plan to redistribute them on Dec. 20.

Toys upon toys were stacked high, as Santa even made a special appearance.

What You Need To Know

  • Promenade at Sunset Walk in Kissimmee hosted a toy drive for the community Dec. 8

  • The goal was to collect 1,000 toys. Organizers say they will well exceed that goal

  • The toys will be redistributed for families Dec. 20

It’s safe to say a lot of people are on the nice list this year, especially Randy Whiting.

With the community’s help, he spent the morning dropping off around 400 toys.

“My wife and I don’t have children, so the more we can give, the better off we like it,” Whiting said.

Randy says he’s been coming to this event for about five years.

It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

“Just give, that’s all you can do. Love and give, if there’s a lot of love in the world, there’s not much pain, just keep giving if you can, that’s what it’s all about,” Whiting said.

Ray Stines is the organizer of this event and the vice president of entertainment for NDM Hospitality.

He says the event has been going on for six years.

“To be able to give back to the community in particular these children in need, is huge for us,” Stines said.

After all, it takes a village to make this work possible.

“We will redistribute these to children on the 20th here at the property from 3 to 5 p.m. So, it’s a first come, first serve, parents are welcome to bring their children down,” Stines said.

The goal of the toy drive is 1,000 toys.

Ray says they will well exceed that goal.
