OVIEDO, Fla. — A brand-new Oviedo restaurant prides itself on elevating Chinese food.
It belongs to three siblings, making their lifelong dream come true.
The restaurant life is in the Yao family wiring, thanks to the influence from their parents and grandparents, who had operated restaurants.
“After high school, you know, we’re all trying to find ourselves,” George Yao said. “I guess this is all I know! I fell in love with food.”
Inside Yao’s, the tones of a traditional Chinese restaurant are modernized.
“With 5,000 years of history, I think our cuisine goes back that far,” George said.
The chef showed off his Mongolian Beef and D’s Dumplings. The dumplings are an homage to sister Diane, who pretty much perfected the dumplin’ roll-up.
