United Against Poverty Orlando is using a truck to deliver food to parts of Central Florida.

It delivered more than 160 turkeys along with other Thanksgiving food to people in the Parramore community.

The deliveries are for people who can’t get to the group’s store, which offers groceries for less than what they would have to pay otherwise.

Natasha Tassa is able to shop at the store, but not everyone is physically able to do that. She says without the food assistance, a Thanksgiving meal wouldn’t be possible.

“To be able to make sure that everyone’s fed, and content for the next week and a half, is literally a blessing,” said Tassa.

The nonprofit’s executive director says their “Mobile Prosperity Truck” will deliver food to neighborhoods throughout Central Florida.

“A lot of these individuals are challenged with transportation, and how do they get to us,” said Anjali Vaya. “These are hard-working individuals that just need a little bit of help, so we did go outbound for the very first time into the Parramore area.”

The nonprofit is still recovering from flooding from an afternoon storm Labor Day weekend that dumped several inches of rain on the SODO area just south of downtown Orlando.
