  • Mucarsel-Powell also went door to door in Jacksonville canvassing for votes, and says her campaign’s exit polling actually shows her slightly ahead of Scott

DMP, as her supporters call her, is hoping to do what Ossoff did in Georgia: unseat a Republican senator. Like Georgia, Florida is also seen as a state that’s firm Republican territory, but can swing to the Democrats depending on the election cycle.

The pair also visited a senior center, where Mucarsel-Powell said she will do a better job taking care of seniors if she’s elected to the U.S. Senate.

“We have seniors right now who are struggling,” said Mucarsel-Powell. “They want to make sure they have someone in Washington who will protect their hard-earned benefits — Medicare, Social Security. Rick Scott is proposing eliminating Medicare and Social Security, and he also wants to eliminate Obamacare.”

Mucarsel-Powell also went door to door in Jacksonville to canvass for votes. While she said her campaign’s exit polling actually shows her slightly ahead of Scott, she’s still urging people to get out and vote.

“Some of them had voted, others still had not voted,” said Mucarsel-Powell. “There’s excitement, but we need to transfer that excitement to the vote, because a lot of important issues that we’re facing will not get addressed by Rick Scott if he gets back into the Senate.”
