  • Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis said her office is ready to welcome voters

  • Seven in-person voting sites have been set up around the county and are located in DeLand, Deltona, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach

  • Lewis said residents can also choose to vote by mail or turn in their ballot anytime between now and 7 p.m. on election day

“We will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.," Lewis said. "We have seven sites around our county geographically located in DeLand, Deltona, New Smyrna Beach, Port Orange, Daytona and Ormond Beach."

Lewis said residents can also choose to vote by mail or turn in their ballot anytime between now and 7 p.m. on election day, which is Aug. 20.

“With early voting starting, you can drop it off at any one of those locations during the hour of operations," Lewis said. "Or you can bring it here to our office."

That’s the case of Volusia County resident Faith Waite who stopped by the Supervisor of Elections Office in DeLand Wednesday to drop off her ballot.

“Well, we're going to be traveling next week and I wasn't sure if we would be back," Waite said. "So, I like to get the mail-in ballot. It's just convenient. I can think about it at home and, you know, no pressure and make my decision."

She said the process of dropping her ballot off was quick and easy. She said making sure to vote is crucial for residents.

“It's the most important thing we have," Waite said. "It's a right and a responsibility that we have as American citizens."

Lewis said she wants voters to know the integrity of every election is a top priority for her and her office.

“All the equipment is tested before every election," she said. "We have security measures in place. We do an audit after every election to ensure that the votes were tabulated correctly. It's all overseen. It's open to the public. Anybody can come and watch the canvasing board. I want everybody to know that it's open, transparent and secure.”

Early voting starts on Saturday, Aug. 10 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 17. Early voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. in seven locations throughout the county. Questions can be relayed to the Supervisor Of Elections Office.

Early voting is already underway in several other counties across Central Florida, including Orange and Osceola counties.
