WILDWOOD, Fla. — A man suspected of kidnapping a woman in Wildwood and then barricading himself in a house in Marion County has been arrested Saturday morning after a standoff, according to Marion County Sheriff's officials.

James Savage, 54, is accused of violently kidnapping Marivel Dunn, 60, from a Wildwood residence on Thursday and forcing her inside a vehicle. The two are believed to be in a domestic relationship.

The Wildwood Police Department announced Friday afternoon that Dunn had been found safe with law enforcement. Savage was located inside a home at SE 174th Belhaven Loop in The Villages, leading to a standoff with Marion County authorities. Officials said Savage "surrendered peacefully" and was arrested for a warrant stemming from domestic battery and kidnapping charges that occurred in Wildwood.

Savage is currently at the Marion County Jail.

Prior to the arrest, Dunn was seen on surveillance video being punched and forced into a vehicle by the suspected kidnapper, Savage, according to police.

Police said the kidnapping occurred around 10 p.m. on March 14 at 6065 Hall Place in Wildwood.

The pair was heading toward Marion County in Savage’s 2018 Mercedes-Benz S series. Police located the vehicle and at the time, believed they were traveling on foot or in Dunn’s 2020 black BMW 330i with a Florida tag #CD60JE (pictured below).

Both have ties to Sumter County, Marion County and Palm Beach County, according to police, and have lived together at multiple unverified locations.

Law enforcement officials worked multiple agencies on the case. The police also said they have multiple numbers associated with Dunn and Savage, but their phones have been turned off.

Police have not released any additional information at this time.
