PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Halifax Health has announced plans to open a new medical office and emergency department in Port Orange at the intersection of Williamson Boulevard and Oakwater Lane.
The project is referred to as the “Halifax Health at Oakwater development,” which will be across from the Ashton Lakes subdivision. Health officials aim to add access to high-quality healthcare for the growing community.
“Halifax Health has served the Port Orange community for generations, and as the community grows, we are aware of the need to provide continued access to the highest level of care in the area,” Jeff Feasel, President and CEO of Halifax Health, said. “Purchasing land on Airport Road is part of our effort to provide access and choice for the people of southeast Volusia County.”
The project includes a 7,000-square-foot medical office building, an 8,961-square-foot commercial multi-tenant building, and an 8,950-square-foot free-standing emergency department.
They will begin construction first on the free-standing emergency room building, named Halifax Health Emergency Department — Port Orange South.
The ER will provide 24/7 emergency care for patients in the southeastern part of the county.
“The project will involve creating physician, nursing and allied health career opportunities. As the need arises, we will monitor the growth and provide additional healthcare services as the community asks for them,” Feasel said.
The new Halifax Health ER department is expected to open at the end of 2024.
