TAVARES, Fla — A Forever Home Animal Rescue is now looking for a new forever home of its own after the landlord decided not to renew the rescue's lease. Now they have until the end of the year to move out and get a new place.
What You Need To Know
- A Forever Home Animal Rescue has been at its current building in Tavares for seven years
- Earlier in the summer, the rescue was notified their lease wouldn’t be renewed
- Now the rescue is fundraising money to buy a permanent place in North Lake County
Paula Dale started volunteering at A Forever Home Animal Rescue in Tavares two years ago. Helping the animals find a home fills her heart with joy.
“I’m amazed at all these dogs that get adopted. They love on them,” Dale said.
A longtime dog lover, it’s not only being around these dogs that brings her back, but also the other volunteers who make it worthwhile.
“Their willingness to grab a dog, take them to the vet, take them to the groomer, get the dogs out every day, morning, noon, and night,” Dale said.
But these dogs aren’t the only ones looking for a home. Earlier this summer, the rescue received a letter from its landlord, saying the lease wouldn’t be renewed.
Now the rescue is looking for a permanent place to call home.
The owner, Lori Mastrantoni, told Spectrum News finding a new place is top of mind, when it’s really the animals she’d rather focus on.
“This is my whole life,” Mastrantoni said. "They need us. Without us, God knows what’s going to happen to them. I just can’t let this happen.”
Mastrantoni said just last year her organization rescued over 500 dogs. The rescue is a great resource she said that Lake County needs.
“I’ve taken in dogs that had no hope and we get them adopted. It’s takes time, and it takes commitment,” Mastrantoni said.
As Dale socializes some adoptable dogs with staff member Kacie Cook, both hope the community can lend a hand in their time of need.
