ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — In an act of kindness, a 10-year-old Orange County boy has left free bottles of cold water in his cooler for passersby so they can beat the hot summer temps. But according to his family, two people stole his cooler.
What You Need To Know
- Ten-year-old saved up his money to buy a cooler and bottled water to give away
- Greshaun Dabrezil leaves water in the cooler in his neighborhood for anyone to pick up
- However, a security camera caught thieves pulling up in front of the home and stealing the cooler
Greshaun Dabrezil's mother says her son has been doing this in their neighborhood behind John Young Parkway for the past three weeks.
One day last week, he noticed his large blue cooler in which he stored the water was missing. The family checked their security camera video, and it captured the theft.
Greshaun’s mother, Greta Duperat, was a bit surprised by what she saw on the video.
“There is a van that pulled up. A lady. There was actually two people, a lady, and a guy. They get some water, and they decide to take the cooler as well,” she said.
The mother said her son purchased the $40 cooler just a few weeks ago.
“He saved up some money while he was in school," Greta said. "That was his idea, and I was like that ok. We went to Walmart, buy the cooler, the water, put it by the side of the road. I know it might not be much for some people, but for him, it’s a lot.”
Young Greshaun would like the cooler back, with no questions asked.
“The person that stole my Igloo, to please bring it back," he says. "Because I don’t want to use this small Igloo.”
His act of kindness
Greshaun says he has been placing water bottles into his freezer the night before, so they would be frozen each morning.
“So, when I put it in here at night, it can be frozen, so I don’t have to do it in the morning,” he said.
Then every morning, he packed the large cooler, one much larger than the one he’s using right now, and headed out the front door, across the yard and to the street.
The fourth-grader simply wants to be kind to anyone and everyone on these hot Florida days.
“My neighbors, the bypassers, the joggers, the mailman, everyone that comes past here,” he said.
Family members said they hope someone recognizes the van or the people in the video who stole the cooler, and they return the blue cooler to the front of their home.
