ORLANDO, Fla. — Universal Orlando has shared more details about the new minions-inspired land under construction at Universal Studios Florida. 

Minion Land is set to open this summer along with the previously announced Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction. The area is located at the front of the park and it will include the Minion Cafe restaurant, a sweet shop, a character meet-and-greet spot and more.

A large “Minion Land” marquee featuring 22 minions will greet visitors as they enter the land, Universal said in news release Wednesday.

Inside the land, visitors can find minion-inspired dishes at Minion Cafe, which will have three different themed spaces: the kitchen, where diners may spot equipment used to create the menu; the breakroom, a minion-style break space with a vending machine stocked with “mischievous items;” and the dining room, with artwork created by minions.

The menu will include items such as Otto’s noodle bowl, Agnes’s honeymoon soup, a steak and “cheese ray” sandwich and Carl’s crispy cauliflower. There will also be desserts and a kids’ menu.

The cafe will also offer an express window with a limited menu.

Other minion-inspired bites can be found at Bake My Day, a bakery and retail location featuring a giant pink cupcake on top of the building. The shop will serve a selection of treats, including macarons, s’mores and cupcakes. Other souvenirs such as apparel, plushes and accessories will also be available.

Beyond the bakery, other minion-inspired treats will be offered in the land such as banana-flavored popcorn at the walkup stand Pop-A-Nana or popsicles inspired by minion characters at Freeze Ray Pops.

Visitors will also be able to interact with the minions and other characters such as Gru, Margo, Edith and Agnes at the Illumination Theater, an outdoor character meet-and-greet location. The characters from the animated film “Sing” will also be at the meet-and-greet location.

Universal didn’t share any new details about the Minion Blast attraction, however the company did reveal that the adjacent gift shop, “Evil Stuff,” will be where visitors can pick up Villain-Con and Minion merchandise.

Minion Cafe, Villain-Con Minion Blast and the other new Minion experiences join the existing Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction to form Minion Land.

The area was previously home to the Shrek 4-D attraction and Universal Studios’ Classic Monsters Cafe — both of which closed in 2022.
