WINTER PARK, Fla. — Shredding some fresh powder and honing your skills on the slopes is a must if you’re an avid skier and snowboarder like Felix Begley.

What You Need To Know

However, when you also live in Florida, you have to find other ways to keep your skills fresh when you aren’t shredding on actual snow.

For Begley, that means taking advantage of his place of work — the WinterClub Indoor Ski and Snowboard.

“I always wanted to snowboard my whole life, but I never could because I lived in Florida. But when I finally got a chance to travel to a place I could ski, I caught the bug and then I started taking lessons here and I eventually got to the point where I could start instructing,” Begley said.

Now Begley is an avid snowboarder and skier, a sport that’s taken him across the U.S., but skiing most regularly in Colorado.

For the past year and a half, he’s been an instructor at the Winter Park indoor skiing and snowboarding facility.

The facility houses two massive slopes with ground-breaking technology that allows beginners and trained professionals to test their skills. The slopes match the real physical forces and biomechanics that skiers and snowboarders use out in nature. Meaning, you’ll feel the same G-force effects here as you would on a mountain.

“We get our students really comfortable with the basics. How to stop, how to speed up, and how to control themselves, so when they go out onto an actual mountain,” he said. “Any skill level is welcome to out and try this. It’s really quite fun on the carpet.”

WinterClub Indoor Ski and Snowboard is open seven days a week, but they ask that you call ahead and schedule a session.
