VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A powder that tested presumptive positive for fentanyl was found near the lockers on Friday at Atlantic High School in Port Orange, according to a Facebook post by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say a teacher asked the school resource deputy for help after a student found a small packet with an unknown powder on the floor near the senior locker bay restrooms and turned it in. The deputy tested the powder, which returned the presumptive positive result for fentanyl.

Also on Friday in the same school district, at Pine Ridge High School in Deltona, officials with the sheriff’s office said that during a search of a student’s backpack, deputies recovered a replica Glock BB gun. The 16-year-old student violently resisted deputies and attempted to fight them and was taken into custody on charges of campus disruption, resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, according to the sheriff’s office.
