Your kids can connect to sea life with special backstage access. This week, we're On The Town at SeaWorld Orlando for a combo of education and entertainment.
Katelynn Grabey is the SeaWorld Orlando assistant supervisor of day camp operations. She takes kids to parts of the theme park that are usually off-limits to the public.
That interaction includes, for instance, rubbing and scratching a dolphin's nose or back behind the Dolphin Theater, something we observed immediately following the show. Katelynn also lead her group to the Manatee Rehabilitation Hospital as the kiddos learned why the rescued manatee needed special care.
SeaWorld Orlando's summer camps offer low counselor-to-camper ratios.
On a day-to-day basis, Katelynn says she engages with at least five of the groups, teaching them about why the animals ended up in their hospital. She also delivers some intriguing, fun facts in an entertaining way. She digs what she calls her dream job. “Just passion, oozing,” she smiles, without missing a beat," she said. “It's awesome.”
The summer camp is now full, but SeaWorld has day camps throughout the entire year.
