ORLANDO, Fla. — President Joe Biden was scheduled to travel to Orlando and Tampa on Monday, but, according to a White House official, that trip has been canceled after he tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday morning.
Biden will continue to work in isolation until he tests negative, the White House said. That standard exceeds the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's for five days in isolation.
In Orlando, the president was set to attend and give remarks at the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Annual Conference.
In Tampa, he was scheduled to speak at a Democratic National Committee rally about the choice voters have in the midterm election.
The trip would have been his first to Tampa as president and comes less than two weeks after Vice President Kamala Harris also visited both cities.
The White House has not said if the president will reschedule his visit to Florida.
