OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Leaders in Osceola County are looking to relieve traffic on one major road by extending Celebration Boulevard.
What You Need To Know
- Osceola County wants to extend Celebration Boulevard
- The county is considering three routes, each about a mile
- The extension would provide another north-south link
- The project has a price tag of about $13 million
The route would connect Celebration Boulevard from Osceola Polk Line Road (CR-532) to the southern boundary of Celebration, south of Celebration High School.
“I’m afraid it’s going to make traffic worse,” said John Clark, who owns an auto repair shop on Osceola Polk Line Road. “Hopefully, they get the infrastructure in place. We’re already crazy down here as it is.”
The county is considering three routes, each about a mile long.
One of the routes would end up near Clark’s auto shop in the Reunion area.
“Come rush hour, there’s a mile long backup at the light here,” he said. “Whereas when I came here, first started down here, there was nothing.”
The project is expected to cost more than $13 million.
The goal is to provide an additional north-south link paralleling the already-clogged Old Lake Wilson Road.
