Traffic was backed up significantly on westbound State Road 408 Friday afternoon after a 43-vehicle crash at the toll plaza near State Road 436 clogged the roadway.

According to the Orlando Police Department, the crash happened at about 4:55 p.m.

The roadway reopened just before 8 p.m.

While 43 vehicles were involved in the crash, the Orlando Fire Department reported that only one person was transported from the scene with minor injuries.

At one point the roadway was completely blocked by the wreck, but traffic was being routed through the cash lanes until the debris from the crash was removed.

No other information was immediately released on the cause of the crash.

Initial reports indicated that the crash involved 20 cars, but later reports from Orlando police revealed that there were at least 43 cars involved in the incident.
